Civic Reception for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club to celebrate their achievement of being the first club to win the First Division Championship and FA Cup Double in 1960-61 season, also becoming the first club to achieve this feat in the 20th Century. Suited players and their wives sit at tables that lead off the top table where a toastmaster stands. Players that can be seen are Terry Medwin, Bill Brown, Dave Mackay, Tony marchi, and Terry Dyson. Waitresses serve the seated guests and the two trophies, First Division Championship and FA Cup, can be seen on the top table draped in navy blue and white ribbons, Tottenham's colours. On the oak panelled walls a number of large framed photos can be seen. The late John White can also be seen toasting the camera. Cut to close-up of bound volume that appears to be open with a ribbon book mark and probably signatures of the players to accompany the visible team photo. Camera then pans along the table where guests are seated. John Smith can be seen. Action then switches to the junction of the top table and the players. Captain Danny Blanchflower (now deceased) stands and adjusts the microphone. Sir Stanley Rous, FIFA official, looks on. Blanchflower proceeds to talk about a letter he had received from the Inland Revenue. He says that it states 'double or no double, you won't get the better of us!' He then proceeds to talk about Tottenham's vision two years earlier of achieving the double, their winning the first eleven fixtures of the successful 1960-61 season, and thanking the people other than the players who contributed to achieving that feat. In handing over to the manager, Bill Nicholson, Blanchflower mentions the potential for repeating the feat next season and the fact that the players' salaries are due to be negotiated. High shot as Blanchflower sits down. The Mayor of Tottenham and player Maurice Norman can be seen as the guests applaud. Manager Bill Nicholson stands at the top table to speak and emphasises how fortunate he has been having worked at the club for so long and to manage such a wonderful team.
